Profile

Beautiful stone-built house (300 m2) situated on the edge of the picturesque hamlet Castello di Volpaia. The house has preserved its ancient charm yet offers an excellent level of comfort. Outdoors there is a beautiful panoramic and equipped garden spread out on different levels where the oval-shaped (5×10) is located as well as an outbuilding with a large table and lounge area. Covered parking for one car inside the property.

Just as in the 12th Century, the village itself still plays an essential role in our wine and oil production. The interiors of its ancient houses, churches, underground passages and deconsecrated churches have been discreetly converted into wine cellars, bottling plants and olive presses up to the ceiling in the latest equipment and all connected by an amazing underground "wineduct."
Thus Volpaia is not just another magnificent tourist attraction, but a thriving hive of activity whose inhabitants are all directly or indirectly involved in the winery.

La Commenda is located in a quiet and secluded position in the Volpaia hamlet. This small, rural hamlet with its fortified walls dating from Medieval times, is one of the best remaining examples of its kind in Tuscany. It is located, just north of Radda in Chianti, in a beautiful position overlooking vineyards and olive groves. The wines produced on the estate of Volpaia are among the best in the Chianti Classico area, and the cellars certainly deserve a visit. Both the red and white wines, together with the olive oil, are marketed as "Castello di Volpaia", and known worldwide. The farm also manages one of the restaurants of the village where is possible to taste the local cuisine. Cooking classes are also arranged, on request, by the local English-speaking office. La Commenda, is situated at a border of the hamlet, thus offering total privacy. The views from the garden and the pool on the surrounding countryside are absolutely breathtaking. The house has been restored in a traditional Tuscan style, thus granting quality and comfort. Each bedroom has its own bathroom. An out-door equipped terrace offers the perfect spot for relaxing and eating outside, enjoying the perfect feeling of a home in Tuscany. The swimming pool area is closed by a gate and is located on a lower level of the garden, reachable through a few steps. Here guests can also benefit of a huge room, part of what was once an hayloft, that has now been furnished and is an ideal cool "summer sitting room."
